Project description


Engine and Teamsize:
UE4 / 6 Gamedesign students + 3 media informatic students

Constraints:
run until the end, sound-input, stealth elements

About:
My biggest project group so far with a count of seven (later six) gamedesign students and three media informatic students as support.
The game is about an alien bug that tries to escape it's imrpisonment in a scientific laboratory.
Beeing an exteritorial lifeform the bug has multiple useful abilities like shooting energy out of it's wings and levitating short distances.
To use the special abilities the player has to use a microphone to capture his humming.

Work on this project


    Programming:
  • ♦ Basic microphone input into buffers (C++) (Later passed on to Johannes Kolbe)
  • ♦ First half of the semester: prototyping of mechanics (humming, stealth mechanics, etc.)
  • ♦ Implementation of mechanics in Unreals Blueprint system (except microphone input everything is in BP)
  • {character, enemy, air vents (push levitating character upwards), switches, etc.}
  • ♦ Implementation of a visual path system in the UE4 Editor for the AI
  • ♦ Reimplementation of Sakti Reputya's behaviour trees as state machine (because of a UE4 bug)
  • {additions: view-cone, hearing, communication between enemies if alarmed}
  • ♦ Procedual walls from array of wallmeshes

  • ♦ Prototype maps to test out mechanics (over 5 different test maps)
  • ♦ Getting the project ready for shipping (putting everything together)
